Help & setup guide
Everything you need to get your AI receptionist live, plus answers to common questions.
Setting up your receptionist
Steps 1–5 apply to every plan. Steps 6–8 are available on Growth and Scale.
- 1
Create your account
Sign up with your email and pick a password. No credit card needed until you choose a plan.
- 2
Tell us about your business
Add your hours, services, and a few FAQs, plus a tone of voice (friendly, professional, etc.). Your AI receptionist only ever answers from what you give it here — it never makes up information about your business.
- 3
Choose a plan
Starter, Growth, or Scale — the difference is monthly message volume and whether phone/SMS/fax and calendar booking are included. You can change plans anytime from Billing.
- 4
Embed the chat widget
Copy the one-line script tag from the Embed page and paste it anywhere in your site's HTML, ideally just before the closing </body> tag. It works on any website — no code framework required.
- 5
Customize how it looks and sounds
From Widget appearance, set your accent color, bubble position, greeting message, and logo. From Business profile, adjust tone, hours, services, and FAQs anytime — changes take effect immediately, no redeploy needed.
- 6
(Growth/Scale) Activate your phone number
From Phone & voice, pick an area code and activate — this provisions a real, dedicated phone number for your business in about a minute. Your AI receptionist starts answering calls on it immediately, built fresh from your current business info on every call.
- 7
(Growth/Scale) Turn on reminders
From Reminders, toggle email, text, and/or AI phone-call reminders for upcoming appointments, and set how many hours ahead they go out. Each channel is independent and only fires once per appointment.
- 8
(Growth/Scale) Connect your calendar
From Integrations, connect Google Calendar so your receptionist can check real availability and book appointments directly — on chat or by phone — instead of just taking a message.

Frequently asked questions
How does the AI know about my business?+
Everything it says is grounded in what you enter in Business profile — hours, services, FAQs, location, and any custom instructions you add. It's told explicitly to only answer from that information and to offer to take a message rather than guess when it doesn't know something.
What happens if I go over my monthly message quota?+
Nothing stops working. Messages beyond your plan's quota are simply billed as overage on your next invoice — your widget and phone line keep responding without interruption.
Can I change plans later?+
Yes, anytime from the Billing page. Upgrades and downgrades take effect through your existing Stripe subscription — no need to cancel and re-sign up.
Does the phone number cost extra?+
No — phone, SMS, and fax are included in Growth and Scale pricing with no additional per-minute or per-message charges today. That may change in a future update, but never automatically or without notice.
Is the AI required to say it's an AI?+
Yes, always, with no exception. Every call — whether someone calls in or your receptionist calls out — opens with a clear, mandatory disclosure that it's an AI, not a human. This isn't a setting you can turn off.
What if a customer asks to stop being contacted?+
Just ask, on a call or by text, and that number is permanently suppressed from any future automated contact from your business — reminders, callbacks, all of it. This is handled automatically and can't be missed.
Can I see what visitors and callers actually experience?+
Yes — the Preview page shows your exact live widget, and every chat conversation and phone call shows up in Conversations with a channel badge so you can see exactly what was said.
Can I export or connect leads to my CRM?+
On Growth/Scale, yes — set a webhook URL under Notifications and every new lead is POSTed there as signed JSON, compatible with Zapier, Make, or a CRM's own inbound webhook.
How do I cancel?+
From Billing, use the Manage billing button to reach Stripe's customer portal, where you can cancel or change your subscription directly.
